Permanent Education vital for registercontrollers

Registercontrollers (RCs) play a pivotal role in making informed decisions and creating an impact on economic and societal levels. To effectively fulfill this role and maintain the highest level of expertise, Permanent Education (PE) is of paramount importance. PE not only provides the opportunity to stay abreast of changes in the field but also ensures that the RC title is held with the required proficiency and professionalism.

The PE framework, a requirement of VRC membership, exists to safeguard and enhance the quality of the RC title. It provides a structured framework for ongoing education and personal development. Each RC is annually obligated to accrue 40 CE points, equivalent to a workload of 40 hours.

Achieving these points is imperative to retain the RC title and contribute individually to the collective value of the RC designation. Through continuous education, RCs remain informed about recent societal and economic developments, as well as updates in their field of expertise. This equips them to strategically anticipate changes, mitigate risks, and facilitate optimal decision-making.

The PE framework offers flexibility for RCs to choose their educational path, aligning with their specific areas of interest and career trajectories. Both external and internal courses, conferences, seminars, self-study, and ‘training on the job’ are recognized as valuable study activities. The Quality Assurance Committee within the VRC monitors adherence to the PE framework.

The VRC facilitates multiple activities to earn PE points

Exclusive member events: Almost every Friday, the VRC hosts free “Vrij-Mi-Knows” events, worth 1 PE point upon registration.

VRC Finance Academy offerings: The VRC Finance Academy empowers registercontrollers in meeting PE requirements through a diverse range of courses covering contemporary topics such as innovation, digitization, and sustainability.

VRC ethics courses: Participate in one of the VRC Finance Academy’s ethics courses to fulfill the 3 PE-point requirement in ethics.

Other study activities: Earn PE points through self-study, ‘training on the job’, internal and external courses, conferences and seminars, teaching, research, (scholarly) articles, or participation in technical committees.
